At only five weeks old, a CT scan shockingly showed that Harry had a large cancerous tumour growing on his brain. Mum (Emma) and Dad (Adam) were told that their newborn baby would need to be placed on life support, and transferred by helicopter to the nearest children's hospital for emergency surgery.

Harry endured an extremely tough recovery from the surgery to remove his brain cancer, and spent many months recovering in hospital and 72 weeks of chemotherapy.

As Harry has become older, the Starlight Express Room emerged as a safe place for him, full of fun and laughter, where he can escape the world of scary hospital treatments.

“Harry has a love of music and a visit from the Starlight Captains always brought so much joy! We are so appreciative that there are people in this world who give so generously towards these precious children”

- Emma, Harry's mum

Oliver was only 4 years old when he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare neurological disorder where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the nervous system, and he became paralysed from the shoulders down.

From that moment on, hospital became Oliver’s life. He suffered terrible pain and feared the constant needles and tests. The Starlight Express Room became a place of fun and respite, which helped Oliver cope with the scary world in hospital.

“Without Starlight we would not have survived these long months in hospital,” mum Belinda said, “Captain Starlight made Oliver smile and gave our family something to look forward to.”
